Case  2: The Four Chamber View in a normal volunteer (Back to Indications for Cardiovascular MRI)

Double oblique imaging plane: the subject’s right & anterior appears on the image left, subject’s left & back appear generally on the right of the image

This view is particularly easy to see the relationship in size between the various cardiac chambers. It also provides an overview of LV and RV function, mitral and tricuspid abnormalities, and is used to detect wall motion abnormalities in the septum, apex, and lateral wall.

Structures:

LV = left ventricle
LA = left atrium
PV = pulmonary vein
RA = right atrium
RV = right ventricle
CW = chest wall
L = lung
DAo = descending aorta
