This 34 year old patient was transferred to the NIH for further treatment of leukemia. He had a chronic indwelling catheter in his SVC and right atrium that contributed to the formation of a thrombus (blood clot) in the right atrium. This diagnosis was confirmed at thoracic surgery. This appearance is typical of intracardiac thrombus on fast gradient echo images. The thrombus appears dark before and after gadolinium contrast administration.
