Laboratory of Developmental Biology (LDB)
Cecilia Lo, PhD, Chief
Welcome to the Laboratory of Developmental Biology. This laboratory
is part of the Division of Intramural Research program
of the National Heart, Lung,
and Blood Institute at the National
Institutes of Health. The Chief of the Laboratory is Dr. Cecilia
Lo. The long term mission of the Laboratory is to elucidate the
complex etiology of congenital heart diseases. Vigorous research
programs are being pursued using mouse, zebrafish and frog embryos
to study the developmental regulation of cardiovascular development.
These studies involve the use of genetically engineered and chemically
mutagenized animal models and state of the art genomic, proteomic
and imaging tools to elucidate the cell and molecular mechanisms
that regulate cardiovascular development and disease. The Laboratory
is presently comprised of two sections, Congenital
Heart Disease Section, and Protein Glycobiology
Section.
